As a conductor, Samuel has studied at the Monteux School and Music Festival and performed chamber and orchestral works on piano and violin. Samuel won numerous piano competitions including the Music Teachers National Association Competition for Young Artists in Hawaii, UHSO Concerto Competition, Morning Music Club Scholarship Competition, and Hawaii Music Teachers Association Competition. He serves as graduate assistant to the choral department and assistant conductor of the University of Hawaii Symphony Orchestra (UHSO). Samuel Chen (piano, violin) is a graduate student at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH) where he is pursuing a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance, studying with Dr.
